Educating the youth on the dangers of social media and how to use it effectively while being responsible.

#thinkSMART #postSMART #beSMART

The Internet is ubiquitous and there is no way to avoid using it and maintain a modern lifestyle.

It is also, unfortunately, much like an ocean where sharks swim below the surface. Social Media Application Responsibility Training/S.M.A.R.T was founded out of a need to protect our youth from online predators, cyberbullies, and themselves. There has been increase in disputes between students and their peers due to social media activities. Parents are clueless, teachers are powerless, and students are helpless in navigating this new world of cyber-interconnectivity. Here at SMART, we aim to empower students, parents, and educators with the tools to make safe and responsible decisions while navigating through cyberspace.

Testimonials

  • Janelle's presentation on cyber awareness and social media was amazing! The S.M.A.R.T presentation is interactive, engaging, and highly informative. Not only does Janelle discuss issues of bullying, but the consequences of misusing technology. She brings in elements that are not often thought of by students, such as the legal ramifications, not only for the student, but for their parents. My middle school students left the classroom with a better understanding of how wonderful technology can be if used responsibly, and what may happen if it is not!

  • Janelle relates to us. What she told us was valuable. I think more people should hear what can happen if you don’t use technology responsibly.
